ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — An Elmira guy has been sentenced to ten several years in jail following he tried to use a a short while ago deceased person’s mailbox to ship 4.5 kilograms of meth from California, according to the United States Attorney’s Business.
In accordance to a U.S. Attorney, Lamar Thompkins, 35, organized for above four kilograms of methamphetamine to be shipped from California to a personal home in Elmira, the operator of which experienced not too long ago died. In accordance to the Legal professional, a digital camera at the home captured Thompkins putting a bogus title on to the mailbox.
Customers of the Elmira Police Office and New York State Law enforcement have been made mindful of the incoming drug cargo and were carrying out surveillance on the residence when they noticed Thompkins and yet another individual retrieving the package and making an attempt to push absent from the residence in a car or truck.
According to the Attorney, Police then pulled the car around and received a lookup warrant. The Attorney states that somewhere around 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine was recovered from the drug parcel.
Thompkins was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or additional of methamphetamine and sentenced to serve 121 months in prison.
